I am a firm believer in speaking positive words. Words are powerful enough to shape our future and life. When God began to create the world, the Bible says in the book of Genesis 1:2 “And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Let’s take another look at the verse; it was never supposed to be so. Why, the verse one will tell us why, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”.

God is perfect, how can a perfect God create the world and the world will be covered by darkness? The world will be without form and will be void? This is not typical of a powerful and perfect God. God wasn’t creating a world full of darkness and void and without form. God was not creating a world without shape but the world HE created was full of imperfections. Does that make God imperfect? No! In our lives, there are moments we seek to do right, we seek to make positive impact but in the end our efforts are full of imperfections.

We face situations where things don’t go the way we wish it had gone. We are troubled on every side but during this time, as humans what we say is very important. We may cry, be sad and say very awful things like “God has deserted me, I have no one to help me, I am all alone, is there a God in heaven”? Some of us may even call for death and give up in despair.

Job cursed the day in which he was born. He was troubled in soul and spirit.  The power of our words cannot be underestimated. In all realms it is a well-known fact that words have power depending on how you use it. When someone gives up on something, their words give them up. “I am tired, I won’t go again, this is the last time, I am broke, I can never succeed” these are common words we speak. Subconsciously when we say these things it registers in our minds set us on the part to defeat. What are you saying? When you face a challenge what do you say?

Job 22:28 “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways” Words have power. It is not strange when the wise man Solomon says in Proverbs 18:21 “Death is in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Most religious people think that all you have to do is believe. No, believing is not enough, you have to confess it. What you say even when you face challenges in life determines who come out on top and those who fail to try again. What do you believe and what are you saying? “But what saith it?

The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;-Romans 10:8 From our opening verse, God didn’t complain about the situation, he spoke and there was light. Created in the likeness and image of God, we should exercise the same faith.

“Mark 11:23-For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith” Looking at the verse in the Bible above again, you realize that the word “believe” is used once and the word “say” is used three times.  To emphasize the need to speak what you believe, 2 Corinthians 4:13 “We have the same spirit of faith, according as it written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak”.

As you journey on, the most important question is “what are you saying”? God spoke and light came, don’t cry, don’t be sad, don’t be confuse, just speak and it shall be established!

Bringing you inspiration and encouragement for daily living. Life is a gentle walk with God not a race with men. Job 32:7-9 (NIV) 7 I thought, ‘Age should speak; advanced years should teach wisdom.’ 8 But it is the spirit[a] in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding. 9 It is not only the old[b] who are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right.
